Newly signed tag team FTR says they got some heat for their appearance on Jim Cornette’s podcast. The heat seems to have been fairly short-lived, but they said they did not make a lot of the AEW wrestlers happy by appearing on the outspoken podcast host’s show.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler were guests on Inside the Ropes. Here’s what they had to say after their appearance:
“It’s funny that you mention Jim Cornette because we did the Jim Cornette podcast and man the next day that we walked into the … actually the hotel, where all the AEW wrestlers were staying…So awkward. They were all so mad at us because we did Jim Cornette’s podcast and that’s okay with us, we don’t care. If we make friends, we make friends and we have made a few. If they want to get mad at us because we’re trying to make AEW a better place and make it more money then we welcome that.”
There were some rumors circulating about Jim Cornette being FTR’s manager. Based on the response to them appearing on the show, it seems like that definitely isn’t happening.
When I spoke to @DaxHarwood and @CashWheelerFTR of FTR, I asked them about being @TheJimCornette’s favourite team today and they told this great story about the reaction when they came back into the AEW locker room after doing his podcast: #AEWDynamite #FyterFest pic.twitter.com/vNBerNlNF0

While comments like FTR’s about making friends doesn’t seem like the kind of attitude that has made people talk so highly of the AEW locker room, it really seems they are committed to bringing back old school characters. It seems they are playing up their on-screen characters in interviews much like wrestlers did back in the day.
