AEW Had Tentative Creative Plans For Wrestler Joining The Roster AEW

AEW signed the youngest wrestler on their roster last year, when Darby Allin presented a contract to then 16-year old Nick Wayne after a match at an independent show.

Wayne agreed to a provisional deal back in February 2022, with his in-ring debut on AEW Dynamite not taking place until he turns 18, which will happen in July.

It was announced after his match against AEW’s Swerve Strickland at Defy Wrestling on April 8 that the two would have a rematch for the title in Wayne’s first AEW match, seemingly set for the July 12 episode of the show.

Despite Wayne not yet appearing on AEW programming, there were seemingly plans ready for him some time ago.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), AEW had tentative creative plans for Wayne to join the roster ‘months ago’.

It wasn’t specified whether such plans are still in place or not, just that they were.
