A new update has emerged on former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa, who’s been out of action since August due to injury.
The long absence led to Rosa having to relinquish the championship, and Toni Storm’s previous reign as interim champion retroactively being changed to an official full reign.
According to PWInsider, Rosa was backstage at last night’s December 21 edition of AEW Dynamite.
The show did take place in Rosa’s hometown of San Antonio, Texas.
According to the report, the “word making the rounds this week” was that Rosa isn’t expected to make an in-ring return until 2023, potentially February or March.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer previously reported that she was expected back in February, which is why Tony Khan decided it was too long for her to remain AEW Women’s World Champion while not wrestling.
Current champion Jamie Hayter retained the title against Hikaru Shida in the main event of last night’s Dynamite.
Hayter’s pals Britt Baker and Rebel then proceeded to attack Shida post-match, but were fought off by Toni Storm and Saraya.
