AEW
The AEW TNT Championship has been vacated following an injury to Kyle Fletcher, with a new champion set to be crowned at Dynasty.
Kyle Fletcher suffered an injury during a match on the March 28 episode of AEW Collision, where he teamed with Mark Davis to face off against Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz of the Rascalz.
There had been a lot of speculation on Fletcher’s status, and now the status of the TNT Championship has officially been announced.
AEW TNT Championship Vacated
Tony Khan took to social media ahead of tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, where he officially announced that the title had been vacated.
Khan noted that Fletcher is expected to be out of action for ‘months’, with a new champion set to be crowned this Sunday at AEW Dynasty in Vancouver.
A Casino Gauntlet match will take place at Dynasty to determine the new champion, with Tommaso Ciampa and Mascara Dorada set to face off on tonight’s Dynamite show to determine the first participant in the match.
We wish Kyle Fletcher all the best and a full and complete recovery from his injury.
Who Should Be The Next TNT Champion?
With the title up for grabs in a Casino Gauntlet match, there are endless possibilities on who could show up in the match, and even walk out with the title.
If the title is to remain part of the Don Callis Family, Mark Davis himself would make for a great TNT Champion after recent performances on Dynamite, as well as the title potentially spotlighting lesser showcased names from the group, like Hechicero or El Clon.
Other names that would make for a great TNT Champion are David Finlay, Clark Connors or Gabe Kidd of The Dogs, with the trio recently taking AEW by storm following Finlay’s arrival from New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Tommaso Ciampa and Mark Briscoe were both also recently TNT Champion prior to Fletcher, but both men’s reigns were ended rather prematurely, so a more lengthy run for either man would be more than welcomed.
Finally, there are absent AEW stars who could make a grand return to capture the title at Dynasty, most notably ‘Switchblade’ Jay White, who has been out of action for over a year now after suffering an injury last April.
