The Anything Goes match against Mark Brisoe on AEW Dynamite re-awakened the ‘Psycho Killer’ in Tommaso Ciampa, who sent out a warning.

A match between two masters of malicious intent, the Anything Goes Match on the May 20 episode of AEW Dynamite saw Mark Briscoe defeat Tommaso Ciampa.

Both men were left bloody after the brutal encounter, but it now appears that Ciampa has been tipped over the edge, with his ‘Psycho Killer’ persona being brought forth in comments shared on the AEW Twitter account.

Sending a warning to the AEW roster, Ciampa made it clear that the ‘Psycho Killer’ is very much on the loose, saying:

“I don’t have answers anymore. I’ve got questions, but I don’t have answers.

“My fight night here, TNT Champion. Eleven days later, it all went and left, it all went down the drain.

“I came to AEW – I say it over and over, I’m sick of hearing it – I came here to be a name and a player. I’m sick of hearing it. I’m sick and tired.

“Then, I go out there with Darby Allin, the World Champion, and I put on a damn clinic, just like I told everybody I would. I said, ‘this here, this is my art. My dedication to professional wrestling.’ But, you know what? At the end of the day, I lost.

“So, who’s right? You’re right. I’m not a main event player.

“Then Mark Briscoe comes back, and I lost. I told you a month ago that I have a seven year-old daughter at home, and I, even single day, have to ask myself ‘Is daddy going to come home with the belts or is daddy a loser?’

“If you wanted the Psycho Killer, you’ve awakened him, and I know I’ve said that to you in the past and I’ve given you no reason to believe me, but watch, watch and see what happens to all of your favorites.

“I’m coming for blood. I’m coming for titles. I’m coming for everything.”

Ciampa made his AEW debut on the January 28 episode of Collision, defeating Mark Briscoe in an open challenge for the TNT Championship, only to lose it eleven days later to Kyle Fletcher on the February 11 episode of Dynamite.

Psycho Killer? Qu’est-ce Que C’est

In 1977, Talking Heads released their new wave track “Psycho Killer”, with the song charting the mind of a fictional serial killer, with liberal use of the French language in its lyrics.

The track would be associated with Ciampa during his time on the independent scene, losing the track when he signed with WWE back in 2005, returning to the company over a decade later for a much longer stint that ended in January of this year after his choosing not to renew his contract.

There’s definitely something “psycho killer” about Ciampa, with his wild appearance and natural intensity that often wasn’t at the heart of his role in WWE, particularly on the main roster.

A two-time NXT Champion, Ciampa held the NXT Tag Team Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship with Johnny Gargano, who remains under contract with the TKO-owned company. Ciampa has previously revealed his reasons for leaving WWE and why he chose to sign with AEW.

AEW being able to recapture the dangerous side of Ciampa, drawing it out through his feud with Briscoe, himself no stranger to the aforementioned wild appearance and natural intensity, stands the star in good stead for a future focused on brutality over showmanship.
