An AEW name has made a cross-country journey to adopt a rescue dog thanks to former star Saraya’s influence.
The story was reported by KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington who revealed that Tony Schiavone made the cross-country journey.
According to the report, the AEW announcer had a chance encounter with a Motley Zoo rescue dog backstage at a show.
Saraya had reportedly arrived at the show with a Chihuahua-beagle mix with Schiavone being smitten by the animal and saying:
“Holy smokes. “I love Chihuahuas. I love beagles. It’s perfect.”
The former AEW star would reveal that the dog came from Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is Washington, with Schiavone recalling the conversation when AEW next held an event in Seattle.
The Director of Motley Zoo Animal Rescue would visit Schiavone at his hotel with a few adoptable dogs, but no Chihuahua-beagle mix.
Undeterred, Schiavone was eager to adopt a dog and was browsing the website when he found a small breed that resembled the family’s Chihuahua that they’d recently lost.
After commiting himself to the idea of an adoption, Schiavone and his wife adopted a beagle named Bucky from a rescue shelter in Atlanta.
Despite his wife thinking the adoption journey was at an end, Schiavone was faithful to his promise to Motley Zoo and used his frequent flyer miles to fly to Seattle, taking an Uber to Monroe and adopting Dobby.
Dobby has been an ideal fit for the Schiavone household, with the AEW announcer revealing:
“He’s been my little buddy ever since. He follows me all around the house. He won’t even go upstairs at bedtime unless I’m there.”
Schiavone’s relationship with Motley Zoo Animal Rescue didn’t end with the adoption, with the AEW name making monthly adonation to the facility.
Speaking about his reason for donating, Schiavone revealed his love for their work, stating:
“I just want to see them prosper. I know the people. I know what work they do.”
Thanks to KIRO-TV, we also get a look at Tony Schiavone with the recently adopted Dobby below this news story.
Saraya parted ways with AEW earlier this year and was removed from the roster page on June 1.
