AEW Star Files To Trademark Ring Name

Ahead of AEW Grand Slam Australia, Timeless Toni Storm has filed a trademark application for her ring name.

Having used the name since 2011, Toni Storm had an impressive independent wrestling career before her June 2017 WWE debut bringing her name with her.

She would debut for AEW in March 2022 still under the name Toni Storm, bringing to life her “Timeless” persona in 2023, and returning to that character in January 2025.

Storm has now filed a trademark application for her ring name in documentation submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The application was filed with the USPTO on February 10 by Storm – real name Toni Rossall – and covers the mark “TONI STORM”.

According to the recent application, the mark falls under the “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests” category, described as:

“Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer;

Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer;

Providing online interviews featuring a professional wrestler and sports entertainer in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes”

It also has an entry related to merchandise under the same filing, described as:

“Shirts and short-sleeved shirts; Shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts; Bandanas; Hats”

At the time of writing, the application is awaiting assignment to an examining attorney.

Previously, the trademark owner was WWE who held the term from October 22, 2020 until it was abandoned on August 1, 2022 according to the USPTO filing.

Recently WWE filed trademark applications for twelve new ring names for as yet unknown stars.
