Clarification On Real Story Behind Wardlow Car Break-In

Clarification On Real Story Behind Wardlow Car Break-In Twitter @RealWardlow

On March 8, Wardlow revealed that his rental car had been broken into and the AEW TNT Championship was among the possessions taken.

He shared this information on social media and would go on to lose the championship on TV to Powerhouse Hobbs.

AEW has now turned the car break-in into a television story, with QT Marshall, Aaron Solo, Powerhouse Hobbs and Harley Cameron reporting on the case.

Dave Meltzer has provided insight into the story in the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), confirming that the incident was actually legitimate and was turned into a storyline, rather than being a storyline from the very start. He wrote:

“Regarding the Wardlow break-in of his rental car and the stealing his clothes and gear and the title belt, that was legit.

“They have since turned this into an angle where QT Marshall ordered it and Aaron Solo carried it out.

“They actually did a re-enactment of it on Dynamite on 3/15 and further added to it with the idea that Solo stole Wardlow’s passport and gave it to Marshall, and while never actually explained on television, the idea was without his passport he couldn’t come to Canada for television this week which explained his not being there.”

On AEW Dynamite, Powerhouse Hobbs announced an open challenge for the TNT Championship set to take place on this week’s episode of AEW Rampage.
