An AEW star has laid out a pitch for Wardlow to join him in a popular faction, following over a month and a half way from TV for the former three-time TNT Champion.
Speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy was asked about who from AEW’s current roster he would like to have join himself, Jeff Hardy, Isiah Kassidy and Ethan Page in the Hardy Party group.
To which Hardy replied:
“Well, the first person I’m gonna say and they if you listen to the show, you know this, if you don’t, you probably don’t, but I was gonna say Wardlow.
“I would love to do it with Wardlow, that would definitely be great.”
Hardy later revealed that Eddie Kingston was another candidate to join, with the current NJPW STRONG Champion even pitching to join the group himself once he’s back from the G1 Climax.
Hardy said:
“A person that I think would love to do a trios with myself and Jeff would be Eddie Kingston.
“Before he was leaving to go to Japan, he said, ‘When I get back from this G1, can I be with you guys?’
“He said, ‘I see what you guys are doing. You guys are always cooking.
“You’re very creative. It’s just easy. No bullsh*t.
“Can I be with you guys? Can I be part of The Hardy Party?’ I love some Eddie Kingston, man.“
Wardlow’s last match on AEW TV was his loss of the TNT Championship to Luchasaurus on the debut episode of AEW Collision on June 17.
Interestingly this is not Wardlow’s only hiatus following the loss of his TNT Title, doing the same at the beginning of 2023 after losing the title to Samoa Joe in his first run, and taking over a month off between his second and third reigns in the Spring.
Whatever the reason behind it, the 35-year-old has revealed how his most recent hiatus has effected him mentally, saying he has been “very depressed” since being off TV, click here to read more.
