AEW Star Reveals Aspect Of Will Ospreay He’s Working To Encapsulate AEW

A current AEW champion has addressed Will Ospreay’s absence, commenting on what he’s doing in hopes of filling Ospreay’s spot.

Will Ospreay was written off TV following the 10-man Lights Out Steel Cage match at AEW Forbidden Door in August, after previously announcing that he would have to undergo neck surgery after the event due to “a few” herniated discs pushing against his spinal cord, resulting in nerve issues.

With Ospreay still out of action after having the surgery in September, his former Aussie Open teammate and rival Kyle Fletcher has shared his honest thoughts on Ospreay’s absence.

Revealing the aspect of Will Ospreay he’s hoping to emulate, Kyle Fletcher noted the following when speaking with The Takedown on SI:

“Personally I am loving not having to deal with him at work, but like you said, there is this whole in the company or in the roster, and it’s weird because he’s only been around full-time in AEW for a year, not even two.

“So it’s crazy that he has become such an integral part of the company in such a short period of time. For me, Ospreay’s biggest thing was, anytime you saw him announce something, anytime you knew he was going to be there, you knew that you were in for something special, a special match, a special promo, whatever it was.

“He just has this energy about him, and I think that’s kind of something that not just since he’s been gone but I guess especially since he’s been gone, I’ve really been trying to encapsulate this as well.

“I want, when you see that match graphic, when you see that ‘we’ll hear from Kyle Fletcher’, I want people to tune in because they know what they can expect.

“I think that’s a lot of pressure to put on myself, but also at the same time, I love it, that’s where I thrive. That’s kind of what I’ve been trying to do, in order to fill that kind of spot.”
