How New AEW Signing Will Affect Tony Khan Revealed AEW

Further details of the impact of an authoritative role that a prominent wrestling journalist will take within AEW have been revealed.

It was recently announced that former Grapsody and Fightful journalist Will Washington was going to be working closely with Tony Khan, specifically as AEW’s “Administration Coordinator”.

In a post on Fightful Select (subscription required), it was confirmed that this will mean Washington will no longer be reporting news for Fightful as it would be a “conflict of interest” with Washington “contractually prohibited from contributing news.”

Fightful also noted that “among the duties Washington will be helping with are overseeing continuity and aiding in long-term creative, working directly with Tony Khan. He’ll also be contributing to live events, social media and PR.”

Dave Meltzer has now explored the deal further on Wrestling Observer Radio, saying:

“It’s an interesting new hire. I think that they do need more ideas.

“He (Tony Khan) was never by himself, he always had QT (Marshall), he always had Sonjay Dutt and a couple of others. Tony Schiavone. Who else is in that mix? Pat Buck.

“And at other points, Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Max (MJF), Jericho, Moxley, and Punk. They all have had significant input into AEW.

“So it’s not like it’s Tony (Khan) doing a one-man show. But he is the final boss, and that won’t change. He’s still going to be the final boss, and he should be the final boss.”
