AEW Star Addresses New Championship Rumors

An AEW star has addressed reports and rumors about the company introducing a new championship, amid speculation about the potential title.

Although Tay Melo has challenged for the gold previously, her recent return after a lengthy absence has seen her reunited with Anna Jay, with the AEW star now having gold in her sights once again.

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Melo revealed that the rumored AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship could feature in her plans following online speculation,  saying:

“I have been reading about the titles, the tag titles, so maybe it’s in the future, who knows?

“TayJay is here and we’re waiting for it. We’ve been working together since day one so it’s a dream for us.

“If it happens, we’re here and we’re coming for it.”

The AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship hasn’t officially been announced at the time of writing, although online reports suggest the belts have already been made.

Melo returned on the Fyter Fest episode of AEW Collision, having last been seen in January 2023, teaming with Anna Jay to take on Willow Nightingale & Ruby Soho.

Since her return, Melo has teamed with Anna Jay, defeating Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford on the June 11 episode of Dynamite.

More recently, TayJay teamed with Queen Aminata and Thunder Rosa in a losing effort to Athena, Bayne, Ford & Thekla on the June 21 AEW Collision.
