According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW is working on bringing former World Women’s Champion Riho back to the promotion.
While there are some issues with the current COVID travel bans, Meltzer notes that it’s possible for Riho to return as part of the women’s tournament that AEW announced during this week’s episode of Dynamite.
The company is right now working on bringing Riho back. People have been asking about her since Stardom stopped using her a few weeks ago. She could be back as early as February. The issue would be her moving from Japan to the U.S. most likely, although it’s not impossible for her to live in Japan, but it’s much tougher. Pac is still living in the U.K. But if she were to leave Japan, it would be a two-week quarantine period in Japan before she could go back into society plus whatever ends up here. It makes sense her return would be for the women’s tournament
Riho has not wrestled for AEW since the March 18 episode of Dynamite, as the former champion has been stuck in Japan working for the STARDOM promotion.
