AEW’s Samoa Joe has addressed the idea that his world championship run didn’t live up to expectations, sharing his honest thoughts on his reign.
Samoa Joe won the AEW World Championship from MJF at the December 2023 Worlds End pay-per-view.
Following defences against Hook, Wardlow, and Hangman Adam Page & Swerve Strickland in a three-way bout, Samoa Joe dropped the gold to Swerve Strickland in their singles title match at AEW Dynasty in April 2024.
Samoa Joe has now commented on his 113 day reign, responding to the idea that his AEW World Championship reign “left a lot to be desired”, as was suggested during his interview with STL Sports Central.
Samoa Joe responded:
“Oh, you’d be absolutely correct. Any time that you are not the possessor of the AEW World Championship, you should be taking it personally.
“So yes, 100% correct, it was not what we would hope it would be, but like all things in the future, this too can be amended.”
