An AEW star who previously wrestled for WWE has defended the booking of a current SmackDown star following his latest loss.
The May 31 SmackDown episode saw the final blue brand names qualify for the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches, with Naomi and Andrade earning spots in their respective June 7 ladder matches.
Andrade’s match saw him pick up a victory over Carmelo Hayes and US Champion Jacob Fatu in their three-way Money in the Bank qualifier.
AEW’s Ricochet has now responded to a Twitter user who expressed disappointment at Carmelo Hayes’ latest loss, writing:
“He works for WWE. That is the prize. That is the reward. Shouldn’t That be enough? He works for the biggest promotion in the world.
“They make the most money and get the most views. That should be enough… What does he want, more? Sounds selfish to me.”
Ricochet appears to be reciting a sentiment he heard in the past, with the former WWE star notably allowing his contract with “the biggest promotion in the world” expire in June 2024 and making his debut for AEW at that August’s All In London event.
Ricochet last wrestled at Double or Nothing on May 25, defeating Mark Briscoe in a Stretcher match.
