Upcoming AEW & WWE Head-To-Head Revealed

Upcoming AEW & WWE Head-To-Head Revealed WWE

There was a time, many moons ago, when AEW and NXT would go up against each other every single week in what we all very imaginatively called the “Wednesday Night Wars”.

However, the war did not last long, as NXT was soon moved to Tuesday night, and all was calm on the battlefield.

But all battles must recommence at some point, and NXT will once again face off directly against AEW on October 17, as both shows will air on Tuesday night for the first time in over a year.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the upcoming head-to-head, and several other forced scheduling changes for both WWE and AEW in the near future.

“AEW and WWE are both gonna have dates changed because of the upcoming Major League Baseball playoffs. It’s not gonna affect anything until mid-October, but there will be an October 17 head-to-head on Tuesday with Dynamite from Cincinnati and NXT. First time they’ve gone head-to-head in over a year.

“The next week is going to be – it’s the American League Championship, and if there’s a Game 7 in the American League Championship, the AEW… it (the game) would be on Wednesday, so that’s the 26th. If that’s the case, they would probably have to move – the show would still be taped on Wednesday night, but they’d probably have to (air it) after the game or more likely on Thursday.

“There will be at least one, perhaps two SmackDowns during the World Series moved to FS1. One for sure as there is every year. If there’s a Game 6 of the World Series that would be the second week, so it depends how the World Series goes.”

Now Triple H is in charge of creative, we’ll see if NXT can fare any better in the battle than they did the first time round, even if it’s just for one night.
