Former AEW Star Thought WWE Offer Was A Prank Call WWE/AEW

A former AEW star has revealed that the call they received from WWE with a job offer was initially a prank.

Having parted ways with AEW in May 2024, Page would make his WWE debut late in that month, appearing on NXT.

Between his AEW departure and WWE debut, however, Page competed on the independent scene and was in transit when he received his job offer.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Page revealed he received a call from WWE as he was making his way to REVOLVER on May 17.

Revealing that he thought he was being pranked, Page’s mind would be changed during the second call, saying:

“I just ended up getting a phone call… I was in between events, flying from Winnipeg. I had to go to Detroit and then drive from Detroit to Ohio for Revolver wrestling. In between my connections, WWE called and offered me a job.

I did not think the call was real. The first call happened, they hung up, and I was like, Yep, that was a prank call. Then the second call came, and I was like, ‘Whoa, wait, this is real?’

They’re like, ‘Yes, we would like to offer you a contract.’ I was like ‘very nice.'”

After his WWE debut, Page opened up about his seventeen-year journey to his contract signing.

A former NXT Champion, Page is the current NXT North American Champion, having defeated Ricky Saints for the title on May 27.
