An update has emerged on the WWE status of Brian Pillman Jr, with the ex-AEW star recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center.
It was reported on July 12 that Brian Pillman Jr’s AEW contract had expired, with the star officially departing the company.
Following this, reports emerged on Pillman training at the WWE Performance Center on Thursday (July 13).
This naturally fuelled speculation that Pillman will be making the jump from AEW immediately to WWE.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), Pillman is still a free agent, and isn’t signed to WWE.
Fightful Did confirm that Pillman has left AEW, and was spotted by numerous people at the WWE Performance Center, and that he was in ‘plain sight’ of many others at the facility.
Per the report, WWE sources confirmed that Pillman was working out at the facility, and was involved with a ‘get to know you’ type of meeting with the company.
It was also reported that WWE had ‘immediate interest’ in Pillman when he became available.
Pillman last wrestled for AEW during the May 13 House Rules event, teaming with Brock Anderson in a losing effort against Austin & Colten Gunn.
He had not wrestled on Rampage since February, or on Dynamite since way back in August last year.
Pillman would not be bound by a non-compete clause because it was a contract expiry, rather than him being released from the company while under contract.
