A new report has shared how members of the AEW and WWE locker room have reacted to CM Punk showing up backstage at tonight’s WWE Raw taping in Chicago.

According to a report from Fightful Select, several AEW talent were “in disbelief” when they heard Punk was backstage at Raw.

Back in WWE however, the general consensus remains murky but it sounds as though the locker room already has a plausible theory.

With the report noting:

“Numerous wrestlers in WWE believed that the move was a publicity stunt for a return to AEW soon.”

CM Punk was backstage at today’s Raw taping in Chicago, Illinois.

The former AEW World Champion is thought to be headed back to AEW for the launch of a Saturday evening show very soon however seems to have taken a detour back to his old stomping grounds.

There have been reports that Punk met with several WWE talents, including reportedly a brief interaction with Triple H.

The report also notes that it was a Vince McMahon call that he leave the venue. When he was asked to exit, Punk reportedly immediately said his goodbyes and left the building.
