AEW Star Says He Has ‘A Year Or Two Max’ Left As A Wrestler AEW

An AEW star has stated that he believes he has a year or two max left as an in-ring competitor, commenting on his wrestling future.

While MVP has mostly worked as an on-screen manager for the Hurt Syndicate in AEW, he’s an active competitor on the independent scene.

Speaking on his Marking Out podcast with Dwayne Swayze, the former WWE US Champion noted that he plans to have a retirement tour to mark the end of his in-ring career, noting:

“At this stage of the game for me, like, I don’t have to do it. I just still enjoy doing it. When I get to the point that I can’t do it effectively or if I’m taking baseball slide bumps, then it’s time to go. I plan on ending this run here pretty soon anyway.

“I want to have my last match. I want to have the retirement tour, let me go around, ‘Hey, this is the last time MVP will be wrestling in your city.’”

MVP noted that while he expects to be working as a manager for years to come, he doesn’t have long left as a wrestler, noting:

“I’d like to think I got maybe another 10 as a manager, maybe 15 depending on my age and health. As far as in the ring, I got like maybe a year or two left max, man.”

MVP last wrestled on May 10, defeating Al Snow at NEW Wrestlefest XXVIII.

So far he has wrestled one match for AEW, teaming with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin to defeat Mark Briscoe & Private Party on the January 15 Dynamite episode.
