AEW’s Young Bucks Return Match Opponents Confirmed

AEW’s Young Bucks Return Match Opponents Confirmed AEW

The Young Bucks are working from home since their loss to Private Party on the October 30 episode of AEW Dynamite.

No longer the AEW World Tag Team Champions, the Young Bucks have stayed away from the company and recently announced a return to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In a video shot at poolside in the “AEW International Department”, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson revealed plans to recapture the IWGP Tag Team Championships.

The AEW EVPs went on to announce that they want that match at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.

NJPW has now confirmed that the match will be taking place and named their opponents for the Tokyo Dome show.

As can be seen below, The Young Bucks will face off against two members of the United Empire with the post reading:

After a challenge from the Young Bucks was accepted by Great-O-Khan and HENARE, an IWGP Tag Team Championship match has been added to January 5 at #wrestledynasty!

In New Japan, the World Tag League is currently underway, with “the winners of the tournament will have a claim to the IWGP Tag Team Championship gold in the next year.”

The NJPW announcement for the match noted:

Angry at the disrespectful timing, but full of confidence that they would win World Tag League this year, Great-O-Khan and HENARE accepted the challenge, and we have another match set for the Tokyo Dome.

The Young Bucks are one of two teams to have held both the junior and heavyweight IWGP Tag Team Championships during their run in NJPW.

The pair have still have the record for IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship reigns having held the titles on seven occasions.
