IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre, Jr. has his eyes on a match against Will Ospreay at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
The August 24, 2025, crossover event takes place in London, England with the venue still to be announced.
With his AEW debut taking place at the 2022 Forbidden Door, Sabre Jr has looked ahead to this year’s show in his home country.
Speaking to the NJPW website, Sabre Jr was asked about other AEW stars he’d like to face and considered his many options before noting that Forbidden Door takes England and there’s the possibility of facing Ospreay, saying:
“There’s a lot. The laziest names to say would be Okada and Ospreay, so I won’t say them.
“I’d like to wrestle people that haven’t been to Japan yet, like Swerve Strickland or MJF.
“I’ve wrestled Daniel Garcia and Orange Cassidy before, but the AEW wrestlers that haven’t really had notoriety in WWE are appealing to me.
“There’s also a lot of people I know from my independent career. Myself and Darby Allin have had a lot of matches on the independents.
“When it comes to a Forbidden Door in England this year, obviously me and Ospreay would be a fantastic match but I think it would be good to do something different. “
Ospreay and Zack Sabre Jr last faced each other at the October 14, 2023, NJPW Royal Quest III in London, England with the AEW star retaining the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.
Their in-ring rivalry dates back to 2014, with their first singles match taking place in September of that year at Southside’s The Hunt Is On which saw a win for Ospreay.
