AEW’s MJF Set For Championship Match In Another Promotion

AEW star MJF is set to challenge for a championship in another promotion, in what will be his second match for that company.

AEW and CMLL have established a working relationship which has seen plenty of talent crossover in the past.

The Mexican promotion has now announced MJF’s next appearance, announcing that he will compete in a championship match on an upcoming show.

As was confirmed on CMLL Informa, MJF is set to challenge for Averno’s CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship on the August 1 Viernes Espectacular show.

CMLL shared a clip from CMLL Informa on Twitter with the caption:

Confirmed Battle! Averno and MJF will face off on Friday, August 1st for the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship

MJF currently has an AEW World Championship match in hand, earned by winning the Casino Gauntlet match at All In Texas.

This is a big week for MJF outside of the ring, with the AEW star having a supporting role in Happy Gilmore 2, which drops on Netflix on Friday, July 25.
