The singer of AJ Lee’s entrance music has reacted to the star’s WWE return after over a decade away from the company.
With AJ Lee making her return on the September 5 episode of WWE SmackDown, the star came out to her familiar entrance music.
With Light It Up having been tied to AJ Lee since her debut earliest days in 2011, the singer behind it has now addressed the theme’s continued use.
Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Kari Kimmel, who provided vocals for the Jim Johnson track, said it was “awesome” to hear it once again, writing:
“AJ Lee is back!
“And yep… That’s still me on the theme song.
“I sang “Let’s Light it Up” over a decade ago, and it’s so awesome to hear it lighting up the arena again!
“Grateful to be a part of something so iconic.”
Kimmel’s career has seen her write songs for major artists including The Backstreet Boys, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, along with perform as a backing singer for Bruce Springsteen and John Legend, among others.
Fans of the Cobra Kai TV series may also remember her cover of the track Cruel Summer, which featured during Season 2.
AJ Lee returned to WWE Raw last night, setting up a mixed tag team match against Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins for the September 20 Wrestlepalooza show.
