AJ Styles has commented on his current position in WWE, responding to a fan who claimed that Styles was booked better in 2016.
In 2016 and 2017, AJ Styles and John Cena had an epic rivalry, consistently putting on classic matches. WWE on Fox recently took to Twitter to ask fans which Styles vs Cena match was their favorite.
A Twitter user recalled this rivalry saying “back when AJ Styles was used properly”. AJ Styles responded to this post, noting that he appreciated his run on top.
Opening up about his place within WWE, Styles tweeted:
“I appreciate how I was used. I was made into a star. Now it’s my time to be what is needed and in the process make other stars. My time will come.”
Styles is currently a Raw Tag Team Champion, alongside Omos. Despite holding WWE gold, Styles hasn’t won a match since May. Styles’ last singles victory which wasn’t the result of a disqualification was over Randy Orton on March 8.
In 2020, Styles wrestled The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36 in a Boneyard match. The former WWE Champion has revealed that he and the Deadman exchanged gloves following the bout.
