AJ Styles Opens Up On ‘Not Being Important Enough’ For John Cena WWE Match WWE

AJ Styles has opened up on how he didn’t feel like he was ‘important enough’ for a match with John Cena on his WWE retirement tour.

At WWE Crown Jewel on Saturday, John Cena and AJ Styles are set for one final clash to end their legendary rivalry.

The match was made official after both men took to social media to advocate for the match, with Triple H then announcing it for Crown Jewel in Perth.

Speaking on the RAW Recap, AJ opened up on the match, and how he had believed he ‘wasn’t important enough’ to get a match with Cena on his retirement tour.

He said:

“Lets just be honest about everything, I don’t know if you guys noticed, I haven’t been in the main event picture lately, so I just assumed I wasn’t that important. But it sounds like the fans wanted this match, and at the end of the day, when it comes to John Cena’s retirement tour, we’re gonna give them what they want.

“So I’m happy to have the opportunity to face John one more time, and I’ll tell you this, it’ll never happen again. I don’t care how much money the offer us, we’re not going to Saudi Arabia to have another match. This is it man.

“I know in my heart it’s the right thing, John’s gonna be retiring soon and I’m gonna be right behind him. It’s just the reality of two guys who have busted their butt for so many years, and busted their bodies at the same time. It’s time.”
