Speaking on the latest WWE The Bump show, AJ Styles has revealed a rather interesting fact about his WWE Championship match with John Cena at the Royal Rumble in 2017.
Styles revealed that neither he nor Cena ever left the ring during their match at the pay-per-view four years ago, which is actually pretty rare in wrestling:
“It was awesome! I think about this match with John Cena, and I would say, out of all the matches I’ve had, this was the best one. A lot of people don’t know this, but we never left the ring in this match. We never went outside of the ring; it was all in the ring, which is not really heard of these days. I’m really proud of that match.”
The aforementioned WWE Championship match came just a year after AJ Styles made his shock WWE debut at the Royal Rumble in 2016. Styles opened up about how his debut plans were very “last minute” in a recent interview.
Speaking of John Cena, Ryback has accused of the multi-time WWE Champion of refusing to work with a WWE Hall of Famer and fellow former World Heavyweight Champion, which you can read more about by clicking here.
