WWE have announced that AJ Styles will defend the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe at Hell in a Cell on September 16.
The announcement comes after their lauded match at SummerSlam ended via disqualification, with AJ attacking Joe with a steel chair after he took aim at the Styles family. This past Tuesday on Smackdown Live, the ‘Samoan Submission Machine’ executed a chilling attack on the champion.
Many would find it hard to disagree that this is the Samoa Joe WWE and the fans need and the one who would have stepped into the ring with Brock Lesnar last year. The anger and viciousness is a perfect foil for AJ’s beloved babyface.
Hell in a Cell will be live on September 16 from San Antonio, Texas. As per usual, it will air on the WWE Network.
WrestleTalk would love to hear your views on the latest edition to Hell in a Cell. Are you excited for a SummerSlam rematch? Do you back Joe to be the man to end Styles’ reign? Or would you prefer AJ to continue his reign and surpass the record of Brock Lesnar? You can have your say now on Twitter and Discord.
