AJ Styles reveals whether or not he considered a move to AEW and gives a small tease about potential surprises headed to WWE.
AJ Styles spoke to Alex McCarthy for talkSPORT and ITR, about a myriad of things including whether or not he considered transitioning to AEW.
When discussing having made a tribute video for TNA, Styles commented on wanting to see all promotions succeed, and threw in a tease of potential surprises coming to WWE as well.
Styles said:
“I still want IMPACT wrestling to do well, I want AEW to do well. Competition is a good thing, it makes everybody better. There’s nothing wrong with that, we want to see people succeed and tell you the truth, I have friends in every company. I would like to see them do well so they have my support just like anyone else and I want to see them do well. I don’t want to see anybody lose their jobs. So, and, you never know who might show up in WWE.”
When asked about whether or not he considered joining AEW given that he has close friends in the promotion, AJ Styles clarified his WWE contract status and gave details into his plans for the future.
Saying about his WWE contract and future plans with the company:
“I didn’t really sign a new deal it’s just that I had a player option and I used that option. So I had no plans really and looking back, I want to be with WWE, as much as I want to be with my friends, this is what I know, this is what I know is expected of me at WWE, I understand what they need here in WWE and I want to be a part of it.”
