An update on AJ Styles’ WWE contract status following reports that his contract was set to expire this year.
Last year, Fightful Select reported that AJ Styles’ contract with WWE was set to come to an end soon, but after AJ was unfortunately sidelined due to an injury, extra time was added onto his deal.
However, enough time has now passed that his contract likely would have expired by now, with AJ still actively featured on WWE television in a rivalry with Dominik Mysterio, though an extension was never announced.
In an update on his status from Fightful Select (subscription required), those close to Styles have said that he had signed a one-year contract extension with the company, though they didn’t get any clarity as to when the extension was signed or would expire.
AJ has previously noted his desire to retire in WWE, and to retire by the time he turns 50, which will happen in June 2027.
In regards to a move to AEW, AJ had previously spoken to the Young Bucks in early 2019, but talks never got far enough to the point where money was discussed, with him then signing a new WWE contract later that year.
Fightful has reached out to WWE in an official capacity, as well as Styles, to get confirmation on the story, but they have not heard back as of now.
