A recent report has discussed popular Smackdown star Aleister Black, shedding more light on his WWE status.
Aleister Black hasn’t wrestled on WWE TV since October 2020. According to a new report, Heyman’s loss of backstage power wasn’t a good sign for a number of stars, including Black.
As per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Black is suffering from some minor injuries. It was noted that Black was one of Paul Heyman’s favorite talents, and nowadays, Heyman has less control over WWE programming now.
Meltzer also pointed out that Buddy Murphy, Andrade and Angel Garza were better understood by Heyman rather than Vince McMahon.
Here is the full quote:
“He’s got some minor injuries and stuff but, you know, when Paul Heyman was gone, Aleister Black, Buddy Murphy and Andrade, it was not a good day for any of them. They were not Vince favorites, Garza’s another one, and when Heyman was gone, it was not gonna be good for any of them.”

In June 2019, Paul Heyman was named the executive director of Raw. He was removed from this position in June 2020, with WWE attempting to streamline the writing process of both weekly shows.
Black is yet to make his in-ring debut on Smackdown since being drafted to the Blue Brand in October 2020. It was reported that Black’s request to move back to NXT in November was denied.
