Alexander Wolfe Didn’t Know WWE Release Was Coming

Alexander Wolfe was recently kicked out of Imperium on an episode of NXT. The next day, Wolfe was released from his WWE contract.

Some have said that Wolfe knew he was on his way out of WWE as his contract was expiring but now it has been revealed that was not the case.

Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported that Wolfe spoke to them and said his release came as a surprise. Wolfe said he had told WWE he would prefer to return to NXT UK prior to his release.

He also said he had brief conversations with Triple H months before his contract was to expire but did not hear back.

Wolfe had previously been part of Sanity in NXT, moving to the main roster in 2018. The group was never pushed on the main roster and Wolfe moved to NXT UK to be part of Imperium in 2019.
