Aliyah NXT Injury Update

It is being reported that the injury suffered by Aliyah on Wednesday’s episode of NXT was staged due to planned surgery.

The belief at the time was she had suffered a genuine broken nose as a result of a kick from Xia Li, but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that that isn’t the case.

As mentioned, this was just a way of writing her off TV for surgery, although whether it’s for medical or aesthetic reasons is unknown.

This makes me feel a bit bad for Li because she received a lot of abuse and was branded as unsafe by many a keyboard warrior following the incident, but it does show how convincing it was.

Later on in the same show, Mia Yim suffered a legitimate facial injury during a ladder match against Io Shirai, but later tweeted out that she was fine despite looking worse for wear, and showed up on SmackDown two days later anyway like an absolute legend.
