A current AEW champion has shared an update on his status, stating that he will be out of action following recent matches.
The August 5 AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico event saw Andrade El Idolo defeat Komander and Tommaso Ciampa to earn the #1 spot in the Casino Gauntlet match scheduled for All In London.
MJF attacked Andrade following the bout, striking him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, and continuing the beatdown outside the ring.
On Twitter, Andrade shared a graphic photo of his head wound being treated after the match, which you can view right here.
Noting that he’ll be out of action for “a few days or weeks”, he captioned the post:
“Hi everyone and especially Las Señoritas! I’ve just landed back in Miami, where I live, and I went straight to the DR.
“I hadn’t been feeling well since the Wednesday after the Grand Slam, but as a professional, I had two shows in Canada with MLP.
“I’ll keep you posted, but I have to be out of action for a few days or weeks. It’s nothing serious, Take care! but… I have one question?”
MJF has since commented on Andrade El Idolo’s injury, tweeting:
HAHAHAHAHAHA
How you know? OH I KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED!
Andrade’s uncertainty surrounding his return date could stem from the nature of the injury, with it being a head wound.
All In London is now just under three weeks away, and will be headlined by AEW World Champion Kenny Omega vs Owen Hart Foundation tournament winner Will Ospreay.
Despite Omega defeating him for the AEW World Championship at Beach Break, MJF now claims that he is the one true champion in AEW.
It was hinted on commentary that if Andrade El Idolo is able to win the Casino Gauntlet match at All In London – which would entitle him to an AEW title match – he’d have to choose between challenging the official world titleholder, and MJF.
Meanwhile, Andrade also holds the National Championship, which he won from Mark Davis at the July 26 Redemption pay-per-view.
While it appears that an MJF vs Andrade match will be made in the future, with Andrade’s win at Grand Slam Mexico, this match won’t happen at All In London, unless Andrade pulls double duty and wrestles twice.
It will be interesting to see what WWE has planned for MJF at All In London, an event he previously headlined in 2023.
