Andrade El Idolo Blasts Dave Meltzer After Kenny Omega Match Review

AEW star Andrade El Idolo has blasted Dave Meltzer after comments Meltzer made following Andrade’s AAA match against Kenny Omega.

Omega and Andrade had a match at TripleMania for Omega’s AAA Mega Championship, a match that Andrade was going to win until AEW put a stop to that with its control over Omega’s matches, so Omega retained instead.

Speaking after the match, Dave Meltzer said:

“It was not as good as the Christian Cage match (Cage vs Omega on Friday’s Rampage). I mean, it was a good match, but it was not a great match. It felt like Kenny Omega was working to have a really good match, and it felt like Andrade was working to have a good match.”

That subtle dig at Andrade – in that he supposedly wasn’t out to have a “really good” match like Omega was – made the rounds on Twitter and Andrade himself heard it, and responded by tweeting:

That man hates me and will never speak well of me or my fiancée but all the fans love him for the garbage that comes out of his mouth. i’m a pro and I showed it yesterday and LA SOMBRA is back to show everyone i’m better than waiting for a stupid star rating(DM)

Meltzer has made comments before that both Andrade and his fiancée Charlotte Flair have taken issue with, and it seems to be something that’s starting to boil over once again.

In response to Andrade, Meltzer replied:

Never thought the day would come when somebody would say I never speak well of your fiance. For years all I heard was how much I praised her. Pays to actually read first hand.

Dave Meltzer is often considered to be someone who loves everything and everyone AEW, so it’s interesting that one of the promotion’s talents has now directly responded to him in such a way.

Andrade El Idolo is set for a big match against Pac at AEW All Out on September 5.
