Andrade El Idolo Explains United Empire AEW Dynamite Absence, Teases Will Ospreay Match

With the United Empire on hand to support Will Ospreay on AEW Dynamite, Andrade El Idolo has now explained his absence from the group’s appearance.

As he feuds with Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay recently returned to NJPW and appealed to the United Empire, for some assistance back in AEW.

Support came on the April 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, with Callum Newman, Francesco Akira and Henare appearing and assisting Ospreay and Alex Windsor in a backstage brawl against Death Riders.

United Empire would take the fight to the ring later on Dynamite, defeating Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia & PAC) in a Chaos in Canada match.

With Andrade El Idolo currently under AEW contract and also a member of the Don Callis Family, he was absent from proceedings, something that Ospreay would enquire about in a tweet that reads:

“Where were you, amigo?”

Reflecting on Ospreay approaching United Empire and the outcome of the match on Dynamite, Andrade El Idolo would respond with the suggestion of a match, tweeting:

“You started all that, amigo. The United Empire came for one goal, and they achieved it. I had a business with Darby.

“Now that you’re back, I’d like to be on your side, you know, but we both know that fighting against each other would be much better, @WillOspreay”

Fans would respond enthusiastically to the notion of Will Ospreay vs Andrade El Idolo taking place in AEW, although there’s no indication this is likely to happen in the near future.

Something that will happen, however, is Jon Moxley defending the AEW Continental Championship against Ospreay at Dynasty on April 12.

The pre-show will see Ospreay’s real-life partner, Alex Windsor, take on Marina Shafir of Death Riders, while Andrade El Idolo will go one-on-one with Darby Allin.

The Uniting Force That Is Will Ospreay

Outspoken in his opinion, Will Ospreay has proven to be a uniting force in AEW and beyond, although some fans still view him as a divisive figure.

His recent return sees Ospreay make a comeback from injury, with his AEW absence seeing him continue his influence on the independent wrestling scene thanks to his association with Pro-Wrestling EVE in England, which recently saw Dakota Kai make a return of her own after her WWE release.

Having seen interest from WWE before signing with AEW, Ospreay is in an envied position where he can very much decide upon his own future, and has, in recent years, demonstrated as much skill at storytelling as he has in-ring ability, sharing the spotlight that inevitably shines on his actions with veterans and up-and-coming stars alike.
