WWE star Angel Garza and his cousin/tag team partner Humberto Carrillo were drafted from Raw to SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft.
Garza was recently interviewed by WWE Espanol, where he spoke about the Draft, and how he ‘knew’ that he and Carrillo were bound for the blue brand, due to all the other Latinos being drafted to Raw.
Garza explained:
“When we were looking at the draft, we did not know a thing about where we were going, we were just in the locker rooms looking at what was happening. We noticed that Rey and Dominik went to Raw and saw Zelina move too. Two things were going to happen; we were getting drafted over there or Damian (Priest) was leaving Raw.
Garza then explained how he found out about he and Carrillo moving to SmackDown by watching the show, the same time as everyone watching at home. He explained:
“We were with Damian and we were saying ‘either you leave or we leave.’ And then we saw Damian was drafted to Raw and we were 99% certain we were going to SmackDown because there were no Latinos at the moment. When we saw our names for SmackDown, we went ‘we from there now’ and it was a surprise. Like for everyone watching at home, we did not expect to be drafted to SmackDown.”
Garza and Carrillo made their impact on last Friday’s (October 29) episode of the show, where they helped Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss defeat Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs in a Trick or Street Fight.
