Anna Jay Talks Help She Got From Brodie Lee

Anna Jay became the first female member of the Dark Order early in 2020. She was given this push after only a handful of matches in All Elite Wrestling. Now, she has opened up about the help that Brodie Lee gave her.

While talking to Chris Jericho on Talk is Jericho, Jay talked about how welcoming Brodie Lee was to her and the advice he gave her about her character. Here is the full quote:

“First off, he was super welcoming. And then being the only girl too, with all those guys, but he was super nice. Super helpful with my character too, like telling me how I should portray myself. And he also helped me get people to be interested in what I was doing, which helped a lot. He gave me ‘The Queenslayer’, ’99’, and then I think I mentioned too on Twitter the other day, he would always watch my matches and every segment that I did too. When I would come to the back he would tell me what I should do differently, or if I did good, or what I should fix for the next time, so he helped a lot.

“I didn’t even know he was gonna call me the ‘Queenslayer’ until we were live and he did it in the ring. And I was like, ‘oh, okay’, and then it just kind of caught on. So I didn’t even know he was going to. Had no idea. Everyone on Twitter was saying ‘oh well there’s kingslayer’, and I was like ‘oops’.

“That was cool too. So I didn’t even know about [99 being an homage to Wayne Gretzky] until his Unrestricted interview came out. He never even told me, and it’s funny because in the interview he literally said ‘it only matters to me’, so he never even told me that’s what it was for. But now, to know that, it’s crazy and it’s cool and I’ll keep that with me forever.”

Anna Jay and Tay Conti teamed up to defeat Britt Baker and Penelope Ford on the Brodie Lee Celebration of Life episode of AEW Dynamite.
