WWE
There’s another sign to suggest that WWE really is on the LA Knight hype train just like many, many fans are.
As we covered over the weekend, Knight was originally planned for a major role on SmackDown this past Friday, where he was supposed to save John Cena from the attack by Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa that closed the show.
Unfortunately, Knight had tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and had to leave the venue, and the attack took place with no-one saving Cena, and Uso and Sikoa simply standing tall as the show went off the air.
Knight’s positive COVID test had a knock-on effect, as it meant he wasn’t able to work the weekend’s WWE live events either.
The first of those came on Saturday night at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE actually announced before doors opened for the show that Knight wasn’t able to be there, and even went as far as offering refunds.
Given how rarely WWE does that (they’d usually only do it for someone on the level of Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins), it tells you they really do know just how popular LA Knight is.
Knight was absent from Sunday night’s WWE live event at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California as well.
As PWInsider reported on Friday night, Knight had given WWE permission to tell media that he’d tested positive for COVID and that’s why he was off SmackDown.
It seemed Knight was set to team with Cena against the aforementioned Uso and Sikoa at WWE Fastlane on October 7, but obviously as of right now, it’s unknown when he’ll be back, so that may have to change if it was indeed the plan.
We’ll keep you posted with any updates.
