Another wrestler who has signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has been revealed on the latest episode of the promotion’s Unrestricted podcast.
While speaking about talents who are going to be big parts of the second year for the promotion in 2021, Rhodes named Red Velvet, but said he didn’t actually know if she’d signed a deal or not.
Aubrey Edwards confirmed that Red Velvet is indeed under contract with AEW. They went on to discuss the different ‘tiers’ of contracts that AEW signs talent to, but Edwards said she didn’t know which tier Red Velvet was on.
Rhodes then said he believes Velvet is on “tier 0” which he explained as an “agree to appear” deal, which makes talent exclusive to the promotion, guaranteeing a certain number of dates and a bonus for signing it.
They also joked that Red Velvet hasn’t had a “Red Velvet is All Elite” graphic posted on social media because the social media guy is “very particular” about who gets those and who doesn’t.
Rhodes added that tier 1 is the promotion’s base contractor agreement with a guaranteed salary and getting paid every two weeks. From that working upwards, there are tier 1, tier 2, tier 3, tier 4 and tier Jericho, depending on talents’ positioning on the card.
He went on to praise AEW’s contracts for their personalised terms which allow talents to include certain things which are important to them – being involved with the development of the video games, for example.
