Another competitor who was originally meant to compete in the 2021 Royal Rumble match has been revealed.
It has previously been reported that numerous names were scheduled to compete in this years Royal Rumble matches, but for one reason or another were not in the final matches.
Robert Roode is reportedly another name we can add to that list. As per Fightful Select, there were plans for Roode’s involvement in the Royal Rumble match for several weeks, however he was unable to compete come January 31.
The reason for Roode’s absence is unknown.
Mia Yim and Keith Lee were similarly pulled from their respective Rumble matches, after Yim unfortunately contracted COVID-19. Jey Uso was also absent from Royal Rumble 2021, after not being medically cleared to compete.
Roode has wrestled since January 31, teaming with Dolph Ziggler to battle Chad Gable and Otis. This means that whatever issue kept Roode from competing has since been resolved.
Roode is a current Smackdown Tag Team Champion, winning the titles alongside Ziggler in December last year.
