Another WWE tag team could be in jeopardy after the company has done an amazing job of completely destroying the division recently.
As we’ve noted previously, Ivar of the Viking Raiders underwent neck surgery a few days ago after suffering an injury during a Raw match, and he’s expected to be out until at least late 2021.
This leaves his tag partner Erik in a precarious position, as WWE has a tendency to not use one half of a team when the other is out – see AOP, the Revival, et cetera.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how Ivar’s surgery could spell the end for the Raiders.
He said:
“This guy (Erik) is gonna have a real tough year. Ivar ain’t coming back anytime soon. This is a major surgery and he’s got a lot of wear and tear. Erik, you know what he should do? He should get a doctor’s note that he needs to take some time off. Because the longer he’s out there, by the time he comes back, there ain’t gonna be a Viking Raiders I think at this point. Because he’s gonna be beaten down so bad for so long. I mean they may bring them back as a team, but they’ll be one of those teams where time passed them by.”

We recently saw AOP released by the company just after Rezar had been medically cleared after six months out due to injury, so that doesn’t exactly bode well.
Raw Underground may keep Erik on TV but other than that he’s probably not going to be used often, and possibly not even at all.
