AEW Star Discusses Wanting LGBTQ+ Representation To Be Done The Right Way AEW

An AEW star has discussed wanting LGBTQ+ representation to be done the right way.

Anthony Bowens has been one of the fastest rising stars in All Elite Wrestling as one half of The Acclaimed with Max Caster.

The duo started at the bottom and rose the ranks of the AEW tag team division in 2022 when they defeated Swerve In Our Glory to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships. In doing so, Bowens became AEW’s first gay male champion.

Speaking with Nerds & Beyond, Bowens discussed his mission to be part of wrestling becoming more progressive and inclusive for the LGBTQ+ community. He said:

“I think companies should be working towards better. For me, I’d want to present it the right way, considering how things were presented in the past which was presented terribly.”

“So I’m actively trying to figure out what would be a good story to tell; what would be the right way to go. Because, again, if we are going to do it the right way, we’ve got to make sure that we are doing it the right way.”

“It will be under a microscope because people want to see how this goes, how it plays out, how the story’s written.”

“So there’s a delicacy to it too. It hasn’t really been done correctly before. So that’s something that I would like to probably do in the future.”

Anthony Bowens, Max Caster and Billy Gunn are now part of the AEW trios division. The trio lost to the reigning AEW Trios Champions House of Black at AEW Double Or Nothing.

As previously reported, Billy Gunn recently compared The Acclaimed’s scissoring to the DX crotch chop in an interview.
