Anthony Joshua Interested In Wrestling For WWE

British boxing heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has expressed interest in working with WWE.

Joshua is one of the most successful heavyweight boxers in the world today. If the fighter had to choose between working with the UFC or WWE, Joshua would be making a deal with Vince McMahon.

Speaking on the Alternative Sport podcast, Joshua revealed that he wants to “do WWE” to follow in Muhammad Ali’s footsteps.

Here is the full quote, courtesy of Wrestling Inc:

“I’m gonna do WWE because that’s what Muhammad Ali done, so I’m gonna do WWE.”

Joshua refers to Ali facing wrestling legend Antonio Inoki in June 1976. Ali would later be a special guest referee during the main event of WrestleMania I in 1985, and make a WCW appearance in 1994.

Joshua could give WWE more mainstream appeal, so they wouldn’t turn down working with the heavyweight. Previously working with Tyson Fury in 2019, WWE could offer the Joshua a similar one-match showcase, unless Joshua wanted to work more matches.

Anthony Joshua recently had a meeting with Eddie Hearn to finalise details surrounding his highly anticipated boxing match with the aforementioned Tyson Fury.
