Ariya Daivari Recalls Backstage Reaction To Braun Strowman Release

Former WWE star Ariya Daivari has recalled the reaction of the WWE locker room to the releases of big names, including Braun Strowman.

This year, WWE has released numerous top stars. Samoa Joe departed from WWE in April (before returning to NXT), and Braun Strowman left the company in June.

Speaking on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Ariya Daivari confirmed that WWE releasing big names shook the locker-room. Noting that talent felt like anybody could’ve been next, Daivari said:

“When Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman got released, the whole roster from top to bottom, RAW, SmackDown, NXT was like ‘oh s**t. If they are letting guys like Braun and Samoa Joe go, it could be anybody.’

“I would say for the last 4 to 5 months I wasn’t expecting it, because I was wrestling all of the time. But a small part of me said that if it was going to happen, it might be around this time. Unfortunately it did.”

Daivari was released by WWE on June 25. The former 205 Live competitor has given himself a five-year window to return to WWE.

Shawn Daivari, Ariya’s brother, was re-hired by WWE in June, as the company prepared to return to touring. It was recently reported that Shawn is now a full-time backstage producer.
