Austin Theory Opens Up About Failed WWE Money In The Bank Cash-In WWE

Austin Theory has opened up about his failed WWE Money in the Bank cash-in which took place on the November 7 2022 episode of Raw.

As can be seen below this news story, Theory attempted to cash in on Seth Rollins for the WWE United States Champion only to be robbed of the moment by Bobby Lashley and a curb stomp from the champion.

During an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Theory reflected on the failed cash-in, saying:

“I don’t feel like there’s ever a plan. To be honest with you, the only thing that I kind of knew that was going to be if you know a match you’re going to have at a pay-per-view, if you’re kind of on that road like Cena for example I knew we did the promo, so I know we’re going to have the match.

“But honestly, like a lot of things, like, even when I had the US title the first time [shrugs], Money in the Bank [shrugs], second time US Title [shrugs], you know, it’s just kind of seeing what rolls.

And then at the same time too, with the briefcase, I was in such a tough spot, because Roman Reigns, the position he was in and where they were going with him.

“I would have loved to cash in on Roman, even if it was a failed attempt, I think that would have been cool because I would have never cashed in on the United States Championship.”

In the wake of the cash-in attempt, Corey Graves shared his frustration, revealing he was “furious with how it all played out.”

Austin Theory would go on to become United States Champion at WWE Survivor Series WarGames in November 2022, beating the then-champion Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley in a Triple Threat match.

It would make Theory’s second reign as WWE United States Champion and would hold it for 258 days until Rey Mysterio beat hm on the August 11 2023 episode of SmackDown.

Theory is currently one half of A-Town Down with Grayson Waller with the pair having held the WWE Tag Team Championship.

They recently changed for the NXT Tag Team Championship in a losing effort against Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) on the October 8 episode.
