Backstage news has emerged on the relationships between the AEW Executive Vice Presidents prior to Cody Rhodes’ departure.
In May 2021, Cody denied rumors of ‘in-fighting’ between himself and The Elite. According to several reports, Cody, Kenny Omega, and Matt & Nick Jackson have been on good terms recently.
Per Wade Keller of PWTorch, the EVPs have been getting along well lately. Rhodes reportedly told the other EVPs that he was unhappy two weeks ago.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer also reports that the EVPs were getting along the best they have in a long time, and were working on future projects together just last week.
It is believed that a financial dispute, and a loss of booking power led to Cody’s departure. Multiple sources expect Cody to return to WWE soon, with one stating that the former TNT Champion could be set to film segments as early as this weekend.
