On Monday’s edition of Raw, Big E cashed in the Money in the Bank contract he had held for 57 days, and pinned Bobby Lashley to become WWE Champion.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), “almost everyone” was of the belief that Big E was going to win WWE’s top prize. It was noted that Big E’s title victory had been discussed very early after the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
Majority of the Raw roster reportedly stuck around to watch to title change. Fightful stated this was unusual, with many stars typically leaving arenas before the shows goes off the air. It was noted that there was ‘universal elation’ for the new WWE Champion following the show.
Fightful confirmed previous reports that the decision for Big E to win on Monday was made last weekend, following the Madison Square Garden edition of SmackDown. Big E himself recently revealed that the title change was “definitely not something that was set in stone days and days ahead.”
