Backstage Confusion Regarding Possible Money In The Bank Changes WWE

During this past weekend’s WrestleMania Backlash Premium Live Event, WWE aired an advert for the upcoming Money in the Bank show, which will be in Las Vegas on July 2.

During the advert, Cody Rhodes cut a short promo about the show, and he uttered some very interesting words which have confused a lot of people.

Cody said:

“One lucky male and female Superstar will win the chance to main event WrestleMania.”

As you will likely know, the winner of the Money in the Bank match until now has won a chance of a championship match at any time, so it appears WWE has now changed the rules, with the winner getting a WrestleMania main event match.

Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed he had asked a number of people within WWE about the apparent changes, and it seems they’re just as confused as we are.

Dave said:

“The first time I saw that, I just thought, ‘What, wait a minute’. So I asked around, and nobody seemed to know anything, so I didn’t really worry about it. But they aired the same promo, so it’s not a mistake. They aired the promo on Raw again tonight.

“I know people there that should know that don’t know and were surprised, and I asked WWE, and the official statement was that there’s no official statement, but the ad was what the ad said.”

So it seems no-one really knows for certain, and as WrestleMania is still 11 months away, there’s every chance WWE will change its mind several times before then.
