Backstage Details On Johnny Gargano WWE Return

According to a report from Fightful Select, when Johnny Gargano said he wanted his return to be a surprise, he meant it!

According to the report, Johnny Gargano was not listed on the internal run sheets for the August 22 edition of WWE Raw which saw the surprise return in front of an excited Toronto crowd.

Limited staff and talent even were aware the return was happening, with Johnny Gargano entering the building and many people only finding out then a few minutes before that he would be making his return tonight.

Also noted in the report that WWE had continued to stay in contact with Gargano since his contract expiration and respected his wishes for time off with his family.

As for talks with AEW they were said to not be advanced however there were several pushing for him in the company.

Johnny Gargano returned on tonight’s WWE Raw without much anticipation or build, rather he just walked out and shocked fans everywhere who were very excited to see him.

After cutting an emotional promo including the crowd chanting ‘Baby Wrestling’ for baby Quill, Gargano was confronted by Theory who at first was insulting, then offered a high-five and was met by a big Johnny Wrestling superkick to the face!

In a backstage interview posted to Twitter after the show went off the air, Gargano commented on being excited to be back but also having been nervous earlier in the day, concerned that people may not remember him.

From the sound of the loud Toronto crowd, it seems they remember Johnny Wrestling!
